Get a mortgage without a Swedish personal number
Hej!
I am a citizen of Switzerland and moved to Sweden as I have found a job here (permanent contract). I would like to buy an apartment and need a mortgage. I have a bank account with SHB and received my Samordningsnummer, but am waiting to receive my Swedish personal number. Is it possible to get a mortgage (lån) without the personal number as a citizen of Switzerland?
Thank you very much!

Hi! Thanks for your question to Lawline!
There is no legal obstacle to buying a real estate property nor to getting a mortgage in Sweden when you do not have a Swedish personal number. After some brief research I have found out that several banks require Swedish personal number for private loans but not for mortgage, for example here.
To conclude: Yes, it is possible to get a mortgage without a personal number.
I would also like to inform your that the mortgage can be up to 85 % of the purchase prince - the rest has to be a down payment or another type of loan. This applies since 2010 after guidelines given by Finansinspektionen) (Sweden's financial supervisory authority).
